Let’s Celebrate Earth Day!

Would you like to have fun while teaching your child about taking care of the environment? This Earth Day you can do just that! Earth Day is April 22, a day dedicated to educating people about the environment and encouraging them to take action. To get in on the Earth Day fun with your little one, check out these ideas:

  • Car strike…Take the bike. By driving a car, we unconsciously release tons of chemicals into the air. To prevent this, choose to go on a bike ride. Run some errands or take a trip to the park while riding your bike with your little one. You will be able to enjoy the outdoors and you can explain why this helps the environment.
  • Green thumbs for blossoms. Earth Day is the perfect day to start a small garden. You can do this either indoors or outdoors. It’s a great way to let your little one to use their hands and they’ll probably enjoy the opportunity to make a mess without getting into trouble!
  • No need for stunts in this scavenger hunt. Go to your local park and pick up trash this Earth Day, but to make it more fun for your little one, turn it into a scavenger hunt. You can include items like water bottles and napkins. You can even throw in bonus items like rocks. This way you are cleaning the park and giving your child something to remember the day by.
  • Don’t put it to use, choose to reduce. How can you reduce, reuse, and recycle? Choose one way you can better help the environment and stick to it for the entire day. This can be by limiting the amount of water you use, unplugging appliances that are not in use, or using only natural light during the day. You may even realize that it’s easier than you thought, which could lead to it becoming part of your everyday routine.

Earth Day is a great day to remember that we need to take care of our planet. We need to nurture it, just as we do our children, so that future generations will have a beautiful planet to call home.
