Reconnecting as a family over dinner can be a great way to spend quality time with your children. But we know how exhausting it can be to come home and cook after working or caring for children all day. That’s where the idea of freezer cooking comes in!
If you have a few hours each week to cook up a few meals and throw them in your freezer for those nights when you are extra busy, you can still have a healthy home-cooked meal ready to enjoy with your family.
Here are a few tips to get started with freezer cooking:
- Purchase foil baking pans. Glass baking dishes can’t go straight from your freezer to the oven (they might shatter) but foil pans can. Also, less clean-up is involved! You can buy these inexpensively at the dollar store.
- Test out a recipe before you make a large batch. Make sure the meal is something your family will eat and enjoy that way you don’t end up with wasted food.
- Don’t think about dinner only, you can make freezer breakfast casseroles, or smoothie packs for busy mornings also!
- If a recipe was loved by your family and froze well, consider writing it down or printing it for later use so you can create a collection of dinners that are in-demand.
